At the beginning of this year, our company ppg > flexofilm enabled the “Zukunft für Jugend Holdorf e.V.“ (A Future for Holdorf Youth) association to set up a homework and lunch club. The project focuses on the intensive supervision of primary school pupils who, for reasons of learning difficulties, language problems, parental stress or working hours, require targeted support.

The supervision project has access to three leased buildings at the Caritas premises on Badberger Str., thus ensuring there is sufficient space for having lunch, doing homework and engaging in fun activities. Supervision begins straight after the last lesson and ends at 3.30 pm. The group is made up of 16 first to fourth class children. Depending on when the school day ends, lunch is either at 1 pm. or 1.30 pm. After lunch, the children complete their homework in supervised groups, divided according to class, before being permitted to take part in the generous array of play activities on offer. In addition to one building equipped for a variety of different play activities, the site offer lots of space for outdoor play.

Three teaching staff, all of whom are trained in child education, look after the kids. The aim of the project is to provide the children with a stable daily routine – through the provision of lunch – that encourages physical and emotional development. And, during ongoing dialogue with the parents, to improve the children’s performance in school.
